"SWOT Report"

Strengths

From peer review and knowing myself I think my strengths are in critically thinking about each project's conceptual depth and applying my technical skills in drawing especially on page. I have an affinity to referencing films, philosophers, and other artists' works.

Weaknesses

A point of weakness for me is often annotating and recording all of my thoughts as I embrace a very insular process which does not benefit the clarity of communicating my ideas to others. I actively try to remember this through writing down my thoughts even on sticky notes or just the notes app.

Opportunities

Thinking about opportunities I recognize the great variety of resources that are available to me which I should probably utilize more. This consists of the metal, wood, and plastic workshops which contain equipment I couldn't access otherwise; perhaps this also means I should experiment more with the materials I choose to use for each project. During the extension project I hope to create different samples in the casting and metal workshop.

Threats

Time management proves to be difficult under one to two week deadlines as I take my time into research and to continuously move through projects doesn't come natural to my instincts. To combat this I make checklists of what I should complete each day, although I don't always follow the guidelines I establish myself.

Substitute

Materials: What materials / elements could you substitute in your outcome?

In the extension project I want to experiment with either latex/silicon or metal; It'll likely become a sculptural accessory either on the neck or forearm.

Location: What if you planned to place your outcome somewhere else?

If placed outside the body, the outcome could double as a sculpture.

Combine

Ideas: Can you combine this idea with another to create something new?

Because I'm thinking of creating an accessory rather than a garment, I think it could definitely combine with other elements to produce a rather different outcome. Should I have more time, I would go into the idea of trans humanism and body modification and incorporate this into the design and function of the project.

Colour (can resemble other elements rather than ice)

Material (would change the texture and malleability, i.e. metal is rigid and reflective)

Eliminate

What could you take away to simplify the idea?

I could remove idea that the outcome has to belong on the body; this would completely simplify the technicalities that a wearable piece requires one to figure out

Reverse

What if you try to do the exact opposite of what you're trying to do now?

The exact opposite of what I'm doing is undefined, but I would imagine that to walk towards the opposite direction means a spontaneous and organic outcome that has no research behind it. It could become a one-day experimentation with fabric samples and something which serves a non-wearable function such as an installation or furniture piece.
